Community observations · Not official clues

Clue Board Guidelines

Share what helps another hunter search safely. Keep personal details, private-property locations, and find claims in the private report workflow.

The short answer

Is a Field Note an official clue?

No. Every Field Note is a community observation, not an official clue. Official status changes and campaign clues appear only in the status strip and official updates feed.

Useful Field Notes

Share observations, not conclusions

  • Tie the note to the nearest public waypoint.
  • Describe visible, lawful search conditions or something you observed.
  • Say when you observed it and distinguish facts from your theory.
  • Use up to three relevant JPEG, PNG, or WebP images.
  • Crop out faces, licence plates, addresses, and unrelated people where possible.

Do not post

  • Names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, licence plates, or other personal information.
  • Raw coordinates, arbitrary map pins, or directions into private, restricted, hazardous, or closed areas.
  • Threats, harassment, hate, sexual content, spam, scams, impersonation, or instructions to break the rules.
  • Claims written to look like an official case status, operator notice, or verified clue.
  • Links, advertisements, fundraising, unrelated promotions, or copyrighted material you do not have permission to share.

How publishing works

New Field Notes, images, and edits remain private until a moderator approves them. Approved image copies are re-encoded without embedded GPS metadata. The original upload remains private.

Short plain-text replies may publish immediately after account, human-verification, rate-limit, and content checks. Replies cannot contain links, contact details, coordinates, or formatting intended to bypass those checks.

Corrections, removal, and account action

Authors may remove their own replies. Operators may hide a contribution, reject an edit, close replies, suspend an account, or temporarily disable the board when safety or abuse requires it. A moderator decision does not make a Field Note an official clue.

Report abuse privately

Use the report action attached to a contribution. Abuse reports go to the moderation queue and do not automatically remove the content. Do not start a public argument or repeat the concerning information in a new reply.

During a pause or after a find

When the hunt is paused, new Field Notes and replies stop while private find, tip, and safety reporting remains available. After the case is found, the board becomes read-only unless operators publish a different instruction.
